International Council of Women GB Committee |
Membership of the ICWGB Committee is open to all NCW members and Affiliates who wish to support actively international developments in ICW, the United Nations and Europe. The ICWGB Committee meets 3 times yearly in London, working within NCW to co-ordinate links with ICW, and to direct NCW policy within the international agenda centred on the need to remove all forms of discrimination against women and girls. Recent subjects of concern have included domestic violence, trafficking in women and children, representation of women in European and British Parliaments, and the need for more women in decision-making at all levels. The ICWGB Committee has presented several successful NCW Policy Resolutions on Human Rights, Child Labour, Sexual exploitation of children, Women and the Media, Women in Parliament, and the need for Parity in Decision-making. The latest ICWGB meeting welcomed speakers from the Electoral Reform Society, and we are currently considering alternative methods of voting as a possible means to secure better representation of women. Details of meetings can be obtained from the NCW office. Please contact us for more details.
