Management Committee

The National Council of Women of Great Britain [NCWGB] is a company limited by guarantee, open to all women. Like most charitable organisations it is run by a Management Committee: whose members are known as directors and trustees for Charities Act purposes. The directors are elected by the membership for a period of two years commencing at the end of the annual general meeting, but may stand for re-election for further periods provided they are eligible. The minimum number of directors is twelve and they have the power to appoint [co-opt] additional directors with regard to any specialist skills needed. There are no other directors/trustees and they cannot be paid.

The Role of the Management Committee

The Management Committee has the ultimate responsibility for direction of the the organisation, ensuring it is run legally and follows the constitution. The President, Vice Presidents and Treasurer are the officers of the company.

The Directors meet at least six times a year and determine the policy and direction of NCWGB: they are also responsible for the preparation of the accounts for the AGM and Charities Commission. Six regional committees support their activities and, the day-to-day work of the organisation is under taken and publicised at local level by branches.
