In recent years NCWGB has increasingly worked with young women via online platforms, however, our younger members have stressed the importance of face-to-face support and companionship. This has inspired us to establish new work based in specific communities. We are working to secure funds to employ a young women’s engagement worker so we can take this forward. Being the place of NCWGB’s birth and in our 130th year of operation, Nottingham seems the perfect place to launch the new approach. 2025 also marks the 18th birthday of the National Council of Young Women, so we feel that it is an appropriate time to come of age. We aim to expand our established schools’ work to also include young women from community groups and young people’s services. At present, we are contacting organisations in and around Nottingham who work with disadvantaged young women and girls, and key stakeholders who can lead by example, and who are willing to share their personal journeys to inspire our young participants.

If you have any contacts who may support this work, or would like to contribute to the designing of the project, please get in touch via info@ncwgb.org; we are holding a zoom meeting for interested parties on Thursday 15th May at 6pm.
