Doris Bingley, National Council of Women Malta, and Ann Davison, National Council of Women GB, represented the Commonwealth Women’s Network at the Secretary General’s partnership meeting on Tuesday.
They supported the Secretariat’s prioritisation of climate change and welcomed work on cybercrime. They asked the Secretariat to produce a model law to protect children and us all from internet harms, making what is illegal offline, illegal online too. The U.K. Online Safety Act could be a starting point.
They also asked those present, especially industry representatives, to work with CWN to disrupt the trafficking of women into prostitution. The transport, tourism, banking, and internet sectors are all in a good position to act to protect vulnerable women.
