Attendees were very moved at NCWGB’s online seminar on the trafficking of women on Thursday 24th July. The independent Anti Slavery Commissioner spoke powerfully on women victims of trafficking in relation to violence against women and girls in general.
Experts from the US described in detail how business sectors can do much more to identify and protect trafficked women especially the transport, IT, banking and tourism industries. For example banking can look for unusual financial flows. Tech companies should be taking down prostitution sites.
It was one of NCW’s best attended events and we agreed to maximise follow up. This includes researching the Nordic model which stigmatises the customer rather than woman involved in prostitution.
