Resolutions

Working together to ensure our resolutions are brought to change makers across the UK.

Home 5 What we do 5 Resolutions

At NCW, we know we’re strongest together and that no lasting change is ever made in isolation. That’s why we meet every year to decide which resolutions our campaigns will focus on over the next twelve months.

During resolution discussion, members bring forward their key areas for concern with policies affecting the lives of women. These cover a wide range of issues, from how local housing associations respond to the needs of women, through to championing gender parity in all levels of decision making in Government.

These resolutions are added to our priority areas of work; helping us create relevant campaigns and collaborations to address the issues. You can find information about previous resolutions below and if you would like to raise an issue for consideration, please contact us on info@ncwgb.org.

Together, we can make a positive difference for all.

Current resolutions

Each year NCW members discuss and pass resolutions relating to areas of concern affecting the lives of women. In 2024 members passed two key resolutions and reaffirmed two others.

Resolution on Adult Social Care

Following the Government’s announcement to cancel the proposed recommendations from the 2011 Commission on Funding of Care and Support, also known as the Dilnot reporti that had looked at a new approach to the funding of Adult Social Care, NCWGB calls upon the UK Government to deliver a robust, fair and efficient alternative to ease the funding crisis that Adult Social Care is in.

Resolution on Consumer Protection

NCW in conference assembled calls on the government to ensure the necessary information, advice and protection is in place for consumers of green products and services. Consumers need more support to do their bit to reduce carbon emissions and protect the planet. Half of U.K. consumers say their concern about climate change has increased over the last 2 years.

Resolution on Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)

The National Council of Women in Conference assembled, welcomes the Government’s manifesto pledge to halve violence against women and girls within a decade, including fast-tracking rape cases with specialist courts at every crown court location in England and Wales, specialist rape and sexual offences teams in every police force, strengthening the use of Stalking Protection Orders and introducing a new criminal offence for spiking.

Reaffirmation of Girls’ Education and Poverty (2023)

In the lead up to the Commission on the Status of Women 2024 on the theme of poverty, NCW urges the UK government and international community to make accessible education a key policy aim. According to UN estimates, around the world, 129 million girls are out of school, including 32 million of primary school age, and 97 million of secondary school age.
